We first visited this destination more than 30 years ago as it built its reputation as a big fish mecca, a reputation it deserved then and still does today.

This doesn’t just apply to barra, the biggest threadfin, black jewfish and golden snapper we’ve ever seen come from the Mini Mini and adjoining Maxi Maxi Systems.

Combined they form the biggest river system in the NT.

The invitation is there to challenge the benchmarks set by our past visitors (all except the Black Jewfish were taken on the cast).

  • 2 barra over 130cms with the best going 132cms
  • Threadfin of 122cms
  • Black Jewfish of 136cms
  • Golden Snapper – 87cms

There’s a heap of normal sized specimens as well that congregate in numbers where you can sight cast the flats, numerous snags, literally hundreds of drains and some quality rock bars. This is a hard fishery to beat.

Other than barra the golden snapper are around in big numbers and catches of 80cm plus fish aren’t uncommon; the threadfin hunt in “wolf packs” terrorising the flats and drains; big trevally and queenfish frequently show up at the most unexpected times.

The camp has been closed for the last 6 or 7 years but opened again in September 2023. The great news is the comfort factor has been taken to a new level – the rooms are air-conditioned.

Your food is prepared by a seafood expert putting their special touch on barramundi, threadfin, golden snapper and mud crabs.

And the good news just keeps coming. The only fishermen able to access these waterways are those staying at the camp.

All motherships, pro-netters and amateurs are banned from the immediate area as of 2022. Few already great spots can boast that.

We wrote an article on the Mini Mini a few years before it closed which you can read here

Endyalgout Camp will be open from the start of June 2024 and close at the end of November. They are only going to operate during the prime neap tides, so the number of slots is limited.
