Overview:

Baia Sports Fishing Lodge on the island of West New Britain provides access to some of the best Black Bass and Spot Tail Bass fishing in the world, in the most comfortable lodge in PNG.

 

Experience untouched fishing on the clear and pristine rivers and reef systems of the northern coast of New Britain Island.

 

The lodge is situated in the remote province of Baia and is nestled in a pristine natural harbour, surrounded by a local fishing village, dense jungle and the shadow of a volcano.

 

The waters surrounding the Lodge are as untouched and wild as the land, and these uncharted Spot-tail and Black Bass hot spots have produced fish at over 40lb’s!!!

 

The fish targeted take mainly surface poppers, shallow lure, soft plastics and fly patterns ensuring exciting, heart pounding action in the untouched waters of PNG.

The Lodge offers comfort and style with a mix of traditional Papuan food and culture.

Local owner and head guide Riccard is one of the best Fisherman in PNG and along with his experienced guides, bring essential local knowledge to help stalk the fabled Bass.

WHERE IS BAIA LODGE?
Baia Wilderness Lodge is on the largest Island off mainland Papua New Guinea. The Island is called New Britain which has two Provinces namely East and West New Britain. Kimbe is the main town and is also the capital of West New Britain.

HOW TO GET TO BAIA:
From Cairns, an approximate one and half hour plane ride to Port Moresby, the Capital of PNG. From Brisbane, flight times is approx 3hrs. A connection flight from POM is a one hour journey to Kimbe (Hoskins Airport). Upon arrival at Hoskins Airport in Kimbe, you will be met and transferred to the Liamo Reef Resort

The next morning you will travel to Baia by sea, or there is also the possibility of traveling half way by road and half by smaller vessel. Either way, the journey to Baia Lodge from Liamo Reef Resort will take around 4.5 hours. That afternoon you begin fishing.

The next four or more days you will be based at Baia Lodge fishing the several river systems that are within 15min to an hour from the Lodge for Black and Spot Tail Bass, Mangrove Jack, Jungle Perch, GT and other estuarine species. Access to these areas is with our purpose built 6 meter sport fishing vessels.

On the final day there is the opportunity to have an early morning fish and then back to the Lodge around 10am to have an early lunch and prepare for the trip back to Kimbe (Liamo Reef Resort).
