One of the great things about Corroboree Billabong is it’s so easy to get to, making it the ideal destination for a short sharp hit out. Travel time from Darwin is only about 80 minutes.

Whilst day trips are a viable option, we recommend you stay a few days to fully appreciate what this magnificent waterway has to offer.

Corroboree is part of the stunning Mary River Wetlands that deliver breathtaking beauty and unique wildlife. It’s home to the largest saltwater crocodile congregation in the world, provides critical breeding grounds for magpie geese and is home to 280 species of birds including jabiru, brolga and flocks of black cockatoo making it a haven for photographers and bird watchers alike.

Expect to spot water buffalo and wild horses meandering the water’s edge with an eye on some of the NT’s biggest crocs who are too close for comfort.

It’s also an iconic barramundi destination that fishes particularly well after the replenishing rains of the wet season. A good “wet” will ensure it continues to fish well right through to the middle of winter.

In addition to barra, it’s an awesome place to target saratoga all year round. Hop weedless plastics across lilly pads and watch them sense the vibrations and strike as soon as the lure tumbles into the water. These aren’t small Toga either, averaging between 55-70cms with plenty of larger specimens in the mix. Schools of tarpon are frequently spotted and provide lots of fun on really light gear.

It’s a very large billabong which is circa 40kms long after the wet season rains have stopped and the run-off subsided.

You’ll be housed in a nearby hotel or lodge when you’re not on the water providing air-conditioned rooms, comfortable lounge and dining areas, licensed bar and your morning and evening meals.

Transfers are provided by your guide who’ll pick you up very early on day 1 and deliver you back late afternoon on your last day.

Included in the price is:

  • Air-conditioned accommodation on a twin or triple share basis

  • All meals with exception of breakfast on day 1 and dinner on the last day
