Crowdy Bay is rated by ET as his favorite snapper fishery in NSW.

From May to September each year, solid “bump headed” specimens hit the deck.

The seasons determine the likely targets and whilst winter is snapper time there are a heap of other targets.

Through summer to early Autumn when the eastern current is running close to the coast, pelagics such as dolphin fish, Spanish and spotted mackerel and there’s a real chance at a billfish.

Year round fishing soft plastics and bait produce a myriad of bottom dwellers – Snapper, Pearl Pearch, Mulloway, Teraglin, Kingfish and a couple of species of Flathead are all highly likely.

This is a great value option. We’ve combined 7 hours guided fishing each morning with advice on where to get excellent land-based results if you’d like to cast a line in the afternoon, with great accommodation and quality food.

You’re guided fishing starts at Crowdy Head Boat Ramp. One of very few NSW east coast launch spots where you don’t have to cross a bar and don life jackets to be on the prime fishing grounds. You’ll be pulling in live bait within minutes and heading for your target species super early. This is a very user-friendly destination.

There are a number of land-based options that can frequently produce excellent results if you are keen to keep fishing into the afternoon and evening. These include flicking soft plastics for flathead in and around Harrington, chasing mulloway from the Harrington Breakwall, light lining for bream in Crowdy Harbour at night and chasing black drummer from the rock platforms.

We’ll base you at the Harrington Hotel which is only 3.5 hours north of Sydney and totally worth the drive if you and a few mates would like to tangle with some quality fish. You’ll stay in a fantastic 4-bedroom apartment with 180 degree views and be within metres of great options for quality food and a place for a waterfront drink.
