Kimbe is the capital of West New Britain and an hour flight from Port Moresby.
You don’t need to overnight in Port Moresby on the way in or out. The domestic flights match up nicely with the international flights.
The fishing is a mix of chasing bluewater species and bass in the rivers.
If chasing black and spot tail bass is your focus, we’d suggest Baia Lodge and Amge Island ahead as two of the best destinations in PNG.
If you are looking for a good mix of fishing options at an affordable price in the remote waters of PNG, this is an excellent choice.
You’ll cast surface lures for Giant Trevally, Bluefin Trevally, Coral Trout and Red Bass; troll for Yellowfin, Sailfish and Spaniards; jig for Flame Snapper, Rosie and Green Jobfish plus an array of other species.
The nearest reefs are only 15 minutes from the resort.
There is a bit of travel to reach the Kapiura Rivers near Liamo but within 60 to 90 minutes you’ll be on remote rivers that hold both Black Bass in the lower reaches and Spot Tails further upstream.
You’ll be fishing from 7.6 metre tenders under the guidance of a local expert.
Rods and reels can be provided but feel free to bring your own.
Lures can be purchased onsite or bring your own. We can provide a list of suggested choices.
