Mission Beach is a pretty coastal town situated 140 kms south of Cairns on the shores of the Coral Sea, surrounded by World Heritage rainforest on one side and the World Heritage listed Great Barrier Reef on the other.

It’s the latter that makes it such an exciting fishing destination. There’s a huge range of pelagic and reef species to target and methods to target them.

  • Surface lures could get smashed by giant trevally leaving a cavernous hole in the water where the attack occurred or Spanish mackeral as they attack from below at speed and leap metres into the air.
  • Float pilchards through the water column which Spaniards and cobia find hard to resist.
  • Jigging plastics for coral trout amongst the rugged country in which they hide.
  • Tempting trophies like red emperor and large mouth nannygai with squid and fish baits.
  • Fish the wonky holes that attract a huge variety of target species including red emperor, saddle tail snapper, red throat emperor, sweetlip and Spanish mackeral.
  • Game fish for marlin, mahi mahi, yellowfin tuna, sailfish and wahoo.

Our guide is the best in the area and has a myriad of marks that are proven producers. The boat comfortably fish up to 5 anglers and all equipment is top shelf.
