Vanuatu is synonymous with dogtooth tuna and big giant trevally, two of the toughest adversaries with fins.
And then there’s so many other “bucket list” species – sailfish, marlin, yellowfin, wahoo, mahi mahi, coral trout, red bass and more.
Big versions of all these frequent the sea mounts, reefs and islands around Espiritu Santo.
You’ll be fishing aboard a 32ft Luhrs Sportfisher with an experienced skipper and deckhand.
Perfect vessel for 3 or 4 anglers in fish rich waters with the local knowledge of an expert crew.
We recommend 5 full days fishing (up to 10 hours a day if you wish) with a “lay day” after day 3.
The lay day has three benefits:
- A rest day is always good after 3 full days on the bluewater
- Covers as an extra day in case there are any bad weather days over the first 3 days or an average forecast in the last 2 days
There’s so many islands and atolls to shelter behind weather doesn’t often present a problem
- Avoids going through Port Vila as you can fly direct to Santo-Pekoa Airport from/to Brisbane on Tuesdays and Thursdays
You’ll be staying at Aore Island Resort which provides comfortable rooms, restaurant, bar, indoor and outdoor lounge areas and pool all set on a pristine beach with crystal clear water.
If you’ve got the energy you can go for a snorkel on the nearby reefs or kayak parts of the island.
This provides a great opportunity to tangle with some serious sportfish whilst basing yourself in a comfortable tropical retreat in a stunning location.
